About
My name is Tracy Polasek. In June 2007, I adopted a retired service dog named Max. Max had been in service for several years as a leader dog for a blind person. I choose a retired leader dog becau
se I knew he would be well behaved and I have always adopted dogs who need a home. Max needed a home and, according to my family, we needed a dog. I thought adopting a retired service dog would be an easy solution. I was so wrong! We were not prepared for Max’s special issues, I didn’t realize I’d adopted a special needs dog.
A great veterinanrian I know, shared with me that about 80% of dogs euthanized are put down because of behavior issues. My hope is to create a community that can help deal with separation anxiety and related behavior problems in dogs. If we can save the life of one dog by sharing our experiences and learnings, our time blogging is well spent. Thank you for being part of this effort.
